Laura Conner

Personal Injury Attorney

I am a lifelong North Carolinian, originally from Western North Carolina and now a longtime resident of the Triangle. I come from a family of teachers, and I am proud to say that all of my schooling was through our state system, first at UNC Asheville and then at UNC Chapel Hill for law school (go Bulldogs and Tar Heels!). It is my privilege to now fight for injured North Carolinians!

I first entered the legal field at age 20 as a paralegal, before I ever started law school. I worked as a paralegal for four years before becoming an attorney. That experience was invaluable for me. I learned to handle all parts of a case, and I also learned the value of organization, hard work, and good communication.

I have always been about practical experience, because I think you learn best by doing a thing. In law school, I worked with the UNC’s Legal Assistance Clinic, which gives low-income people access to lawyers. Since graduation, I have been licensed to practice in all of the North Carolina State and Federal Courts. I’ve handled a wide variety of cases covering many different areas of the law, but helping injured people is my passion.

I live in Raleigh with Chad, my husband of 15 years. Chad also works at the law firm – chances are you will talk to at least one of us over the course of your case! We have a huge heart for animals, and we have proudly cared for a number of rescued pets over the years, from cats saved from hoarder situations to a sweet brown boxer named Phoenix who had been the victim of extreme abuse.

I have always felt a calling to be a voice for the underdog, and I put that calling into practice every day representing ordinary people against large insurance companies. I believe strongly in dignity, respect, and hard work to achieve the best possible results for my clients.

I’ve worked in the injury law field for almost 18 years now, and those years have taught me something invaluable about working with clients:  honesty is the best policy! I pride myself in giving honest advice – even if it’s not what you want to hear. I am a very direct and practical person, and I am always going to work hard for you and give you my real take on a situation – no bull here!

I have worked at Tatum & Atkinson my entire career as a lawyer, and the reason for that is simple – I think we do outstanding work for our clients. It is our pleasure to fight for you!
