Robert Tatum and Season Atkinson co-founded Tatum & Atkinson, PLLC, a law firm focusing exclusively on car wrecks and personal injury litigation. Their practice spans a wide range of personal injury cases, including car accidents, truck accidents, incidents involving various forms of transportation, construction site accidents, catastrophic injuries, dog bites, workers’ compensation claims, wrongful death cases, and matters related to sexual assault.

Robert Tatum

Robert Tatum’s journey began at Womack Army Hospital on Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC, where he was born after his father’s second combat tour in Vietnam. His mother, a waitress at a bus stop, met and married his father, and together they built a family grounded in hard work and mutual care. Tatum’s upbringing was far from privileged, and his path to success was paved with dedication and resilience.

At 18, he enlisted in the Army, embarking on a military career that saw him serve in Iraq during the first Gulf War and later in Afghanistan after September 11. His service with Military Intelligence and Special Forces honed his skills and reinforced his belief in protecting his fellow Americans. The Army instilled in him a toughness and determination that would later define his legal career.

After his distinguished military service, Tatum pursued a legal education, excelling in law school where he contributed to law review, participated in moot court, and volunteered in legal clinics. His commitment to serving North Carolina citizens was evident from the start, and upon graduation, he began practicing in state and federal courts across North Carolina. His admission to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States was a proud moment, marked by Chief Justice Roberts signing a Bible dedicated to his beloved mother.

Tatum’s law firm was built from the ground up, with a mission to protect ordinary people from insurance companies and ensure they receive fair treatment and compensation. His military background equipped him with the discipline and resolve necessary to fight for his clients’ rights. The army’s motto, “De Oppresso Liber” (To Free the Oppressed), reflects his enduring commitment to justice and advocacy.

Season Atkinson

Season Atkinson’s story begins in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where she was born and raised as a true coal miner’s daughter. Her father and step-father worked in the coal mines of western Pennsylvania, and her early life was marked by the tragic loss of her father in a drunk driving accident. This personal tragedy inspired her to join the National Board of Directors of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, where she advocates for victims of drunk and drug-impaired driving.

Both sets of her grandparents were local business owners, instilling in her a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a “can-do” attitude. None of her grandparents had more than a high school education, but they imparted the value of hard work and community stewardship. When she graduated from Marshall University in 1997, she became the first member of her family to earn a bachelor’s degree. Her subsequent graduation from the Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University in 2000 was a moment of immense pride for her family.

Atkinson began her legal career with a firm representing insurance companies and employers. This experience provided her with valuable insights into how insurance adjusters handle and value injury claims. In 2006, she partnered with Robert Tatum to establish Tatum & Atkinson, PLLC, focusing on representing injured people against insurance companies.

As a personal injury lawyer, Atkinson is particularly passionate about helping victims of impaired drivers and injured children. She balances compassion for her clients with an aggressive stance against insurance companies, ensuring that her clients receive the justice and compensation they deserve.
